Here is card #4 of my artisan award entries. I really liked this card. Tried to do something a little different with the gate fold technique. I also did a lot of water coloring. I love the ribbon around it, although it was a pain to keep it stuck to the card. I worried about whether it would come undone during shipping. Hopefully, it made it safely.

I really should have taken pictures of the inside of all my cards but didn't think about it at the time. The were all prettied up too!

This is the last of 3 scrapbook page entries. I really liked this one because it shows off my photography skills. Well, not really. I don't really have any photography skills other than turning on a camera and hit the button that takes the picture. My skill is to take a picture over and over and over until I get the one I want. Thank heavens for digital cameras!!!!

These pictures were taken during our trip to St. Louis last year at the butterfly house.

Here is my first 3D project I submitted for the Artisan Award Contest. This was a project I spent a lot of time planning and thinking about. It is a chalkboard/corkboard/magnetic board. I used the Chalkboard Decor Elements sheets. Maybe I should have written on the chalkboard something like "I LOVE SU!" or "PICK ME FOR THE WINNER".

This is SOOOOOO pretty in real life! I used Iridescent Ice embossing powder on the darker flowers and the sentiment. It really sparkles!

Well, I wish this was a different post. One screaming from the rooftops that I won the Artisan Award Contest. However, I did not receive that call I had been hoping for. I'm excited for the winners and losing gives me more motivation to try harder for next year. So anyway, over the next couple weeks, I will be sharing with you my entries into the contest. I would love to hear you thoughts about the entries I submitted.

I will be back to posting the weekly CAS challenge this Friday. So sorry I didn't get one posted last week. Life got in the way! With dance, t-ball, the annual rummage sale, birthday parties, blah, blah, blah I just did not have time to stamp and post here. Hopefully, things will slow down a bit now!

Friday's Clean and Simple Challenge #2

I made it to my second week of this challenge, barely! This has been an incredibly busy day, week actually. But anyway, on with this week's challenge.
For this week, the challenge is to make a CAS project using your Stampin' Around Wheel. You have three options for this challenge - the standard wheel, the jumbo wheel, or the new builder wheels from the Summer Mini. (Contact me if you have not received the Summer Mini, I'll get you one right away!)
I'm cheating a little this week, I'm posting a card that I had posted a couple of weeks ago. I like it so much, I thought I would put it up again!

Supplies:

Cardstock: Only Orange, Night of Navy, Whisper White

Stamps: Stampin Around Builder Wheels Candle Crazy and So Many Stars, Birthday Bliss

Ink: Only Orange and Night of Navy Stampin' Write Markers and Ink Refills

First Clean & Simple Challenge!

Hi everyone! So glad you could join me today for the very first CAS challenge. As an added bonus for this week, I will be offering a nice little prize for my favorite entry. Be sure to upload by May 27 at 11:59pm CST to be eligible for the prize!

What is a CAS challenge, you ask?? CAS stands for Clean and Simple. This can mean different things to different people. I tend to have a simple style when I stamp. Not a lot of embellishments or bling. I don't typically make cards or SB pages that take days to make. So my CAS cards are REALLY simple! Quick and easy to make, but nice. (At least, I think so!)

So on to this week's challenge!!! It's a technique. A super easy technique!! Paper tearing. You can add a lot of dimension by tearing your paper.

There are a few different ways to do this. Some like to just rip away and see how it comes out. Others like a little more control and tear a little at a time. You can also tear the paper toward you to get the "rough" look on the edge. Or, if you tear away from yourself, the edge will be smooth looking.

Tart & Tangy Clean & Simple

Last week's clean & simple challenge on Stampin' Connection was to make a card that made you think of summer! Here in the midwest, we haven't had much summer like weather the last few weeks. So, my challenge was to make a card or project that was simple to make and "felt" like summer. I had so much fun with this challenge, I couldn't stop!!! Here are my samples:

Vintage Scrapbook Pages

I have to admit it .... It took me quite a while to jump on the Vintage style bandwagon. Although I like other creations I have seen in this style, it's just wasn't for me. But, Stampin' Up! has a wonderful collection for vintage style stamping. So, for this month's club project we made a two page scrapbook layout with a vintage look.

Here's page one of a two page layout. We used the Elements of Style stamp set for this layout. The background paper is Really Rust. The photo mats are Sage Shadow. And the sentiment block is Close to Cocoa. All colors I love that will be retiring soon. We also used Smooch Spritz. Another fantastic new product from the summer mini!

Here's the second page of our layout. We used the same colors, just changed around a bit. We also sponged Basic Brown ink around the edges of all the cardstock to really make it look distressed.

Summer Mini Sneak Peek!

I got to play yesterday! I got my preorder from the summer mini over a week ago and yesterday I finally got to play around with my new goodies! I stamped just for the fun of it...no challenges, no contest, no prep for clubs or workshops. Not that I don't like doing all those things, it was just fun to stamp for no reason at all. Here are a couple of cards I made with the Elements of Style stamp set that is featured in the Summer Mini. I made this card by coloring the stamp with Stampin' Write Markers. I used Melon Mambo, Always Artichoke, and a little bit of Close to Cocoa:

For this one, I used my colored pencils. I haven't used these in forever! This stamp set really screams color me!!

I love the way this card turned out. For this one I used Lovely Lilac, Soft Suede, and Old Olive. I colored the flowers in with colored pencils and a blender pen.

That was me with a big sigh of RELIEF!!!! As you've probably noticed, I haven't had many posts the last few weeks. I have been fervently working my stampin fingers to the bone!!! Stampin' Up! has a yearly contest for demonstrators called the Artisan Award. The requirements are 5 cards, 3 scrapbook pages, and 2 3d items. They pick 10 winners each year. This year, I finally got my act together and submitted my work. The deadline for the contest was today and I got my box of goodies out in the mail yesterday. Nothing like waiting until the last minute to get things done! But it is all shipped off and in the hands of the Stampin' Up! powers that be. I don't really plan on winning, as there are so many talented demos who enter. But, a girl can dream right?

So anyway, here's my card for last week's Stampin' Connection clean and simple challenge. This week the challenge was to use something from the Occassion's Mini, which will be ending in 10 short days!!

I used some Sweet Pea DSP, Sending Love Notes-Kisses (the white die cut), and the level 1 hostess set Picture This.

Sorry for the delay in posting the last day of my non-hoarding challenge! We had a total computer meltdown on Saturday. Not pointing any fingers, but I'm pretty sure the little 2-year old boy that runs around here had a lot to do with it. So after getting the new computer, my husband had to "work" on it all day Saturday getting it ready to go. I say "work" because I implied he was playing around and he corrected me right away that he was "working" on it!

So anyway, here is the next project I made using up that beautiful Sweet Pea DSP. It is a monthly planner I picked up and redecorated. It will likely be a hostess gift for a workshop or club in March.

This week's CAS challenge on Stampin' Connection is to make a clean and simple card with ribbon. I used the DSP from the Saleabration Catalog and some gorgeous Old Olive Satin Ribbon from the occasions mini.

Day 3 of Non-hoarding Challenge!

I've made it to day 3! I'm starting to get a little panicky!! My beautiful Sweet Pea DSP stack is starting to get smaller. I've used it so much now. I feel like I need to put in a big order and replenish my supplies. But, as I look around, I still have a room full!! For this one, I am cheating a little! This is a two page scrapbook layout, but I'm only posting one page today! You'll have to come back tomorrow to see the other one.

This page is of my daughter swinging herself for the first time. It was such a momentous occasion! After hundreds of times of "mommy, can you swing me?", my little girl finally learned to do it herself. This happened at the beginning of last summer, and I quickly learned that although she could do it herself, being pushed on the swing is still a lot of fun! She still asked a few hundred times throughout the summer "mommy, can you swing me?"!

Confessions of a hoarder!

Hoarding seems to be a problem for many stampers/scrapbookers. I am not immune to this disease. I always love the new products that come out. I can't wait to get my hands on them. Then, months later there they sit. Just waiting for me to create something with them. So many times, I just can't do it. I pull them out and then think "maybe I'll want this more for something else". Then, back to the cabinet/shelf/box it came out of. So, I'm challenging myself to use up my supplies. NO MORE HOARDING!!! All week, I'll be posting projects I'm making using my Sweet Pea DSP. I love this paper!!! I hate to let it out of its pretty stack. But, I am going to make things with it!! Here's the first project I made:

Altered Body Butter

I found these little jars of body butter at an after Christmas clearance sale. I altered this one with some Sending Love Designer DSP from the new mini. This paper is so beautiful. The picture in the catalog doesn't begin to show you how pretty it really is. I got my inspiration for this from an altered candy tin at Julie Davison's blog. It could use a bit more dressing up, but I wanted the recipient to be able to open it and use it easily. Hope you all have a good week!

Love You Much Card

I'm totally into Valentine's Day mode now! I love Christmas, it's definitely my favorite holiday. But, I have to say I'm kinda glad to move on to making other projects. I think I started Christmas in early October, so it's a nice change to work on something else.

I saw this card/envelope combo on someone's blog month's ago, but cannot remember who. It's probably been around a lot. But, it's definitely not my original idea. This is a 4 X 4 1/4" card with an envelope and topper. I used some non-traditional Valentine's colors - Bordering Blue and Pale Plum and added a little bling with Dazzling Diamonds. I didn't have any matching ribbon (gasp!) for the envelope, so I dyed some Whisper White Taffeta using an ink refill and a little water.

Maybe for some of you more experienced bloggers, that have been doing this for awhile, it won't be as exciting. But for me, it's great! Sending Sweet Thoughts

Here's a quick Valentine's card I made using the Wandering Words stamp set (which I won at regionals last fall!) from the Holiday Mini. I also used the 5/8" Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon from the new Occasions Mini. This ribbon is the best! It ties beautifully. Next week I will be hosting a ribbon share so that you can get a sample of all the colors without purchasing 9 full spools of ribbon. Leave me a comment if you are interested. Finally put up my Decor Element from last year!

Last week, I finally put up this Decor Element in my hallway above the coat rack/shelf. I have been holding onto it waiting for just the right spot. I absolutely love these for decorating. They are inexpensive and so easy to put up. My husband and daughter both said "they are like tattoos for the wall!" 3rd Annual Christmas Card Stamp A Stack

For three years in a row, I have hosted a Christmas Card Stamp A Stack. We always have a great time and get a good jump on our Christmas cards. Here are the cards we made this year:

This one is a very simple, elegant card. I used Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy, and Very Vanilla. It's hard to see in the photo, but the Very Vanilla has been textured with the Texturz Plate.

Again, my very favorite Delightful Decorations!

Traditional Christmas Colors Real Red, Glorious Green, Whisper White and a little Soft Suede.

This is my favorite from the class. Bordering Blue, Close to Cocoa, and Whisper White. I used the Serene Snowflakes stamp set from the Holiday Mini.

Last but not least - Dasher! A little modern Christmas Card.

Stamped Candle Door Prize Gift

Hi All!! So sorry I have neglected my little blog. It's been weeks since I have posted anything, but I have definitely been busy! I'll have regular posts all week to show you what I've been working on, as well as some Christmas Cards Kits I've put together. Have a great weekend!!

Here's a stamped candle I made for a door prize gift for a workshop. I love this little Dasher stamp.

Stamped candles are so easy to do and make the nicest little gifts. To make a stamped candle, white candles work best. Stamp whatever image you want onto tissue paper - be sure to have something under the tissue paper because the ink will bleed through. (Ask me how I know! I had snowmen stamped all over my coffee table a couple of years ago!) Cut out the image. This doesn't need to be perfect-just cut around close to the image. Place tissue paper on candle, wrap waxed paper around it, holding it at the back, and heat with heat embossing gun. The waxed paper will melt and adhere the tissue paper with your stamped image into the candle. Put your candle in a cute cello bag and tie with some ribbon and whala-a quick easy gift!

Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' Kit

Altered Thoroughly Modern File Folder

Here is my altered thoroughly modern file folder. I saw something like this when I was at the Cincinnati Regional Seminar in September. I recreated from memory. Why I didn't take a picture of it, I don't know. But I thought it was so cute, I had to try to make my own. I am going to work on making a tutorial for this project. Hope you like it! I finally did it!

Well, I finally did it...I mounted my doorprize stamp set from the Cinci Regionals. I don't know why, but I kept shying away from mounting and using this set. I've had it since September 12, but kept it under wraps all this time. I love the set. But, it was almost like it was sacred since I won it at regionals! I know, sounds silly. But anyway, I finally broke it out and used it today for this Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I absolutely love fall, and the warm colors. My favorite days of fall are Sundays, when we get in our comfy clothes, eat good (i.e. fattening) food, and watch football all day. I strive to get all my work done on Saturdays so that I can do this. Can't wait till next Sunday!

I love to alter things with paper and stamps. Everytime I go shopping, even to the grocery store, I'm always on the lookout for things to alter. I found this clock last weekend on clearance for $3.99. Knew I had to have it to "customize"! I used some leftovers I had from the retired Simply Scrappin' Kit "At Home". I really like the way it turned out.

Here is the final sample from my All Occasions Stamp-a-Stack. A very simple card, but pretty. I showed the girls how to use the blender pen to "erase" ink from your stamp. For the stem, we stamped it in Old Olive, the "erased" the ink from the buds on the stem, them colored them in with the Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write Marker.

Here 's a card from my All Occasions Stamp-a-Stack. We had a great time after a few bumps getting started. My class was scheduled for 6pm. At 4:45, the power went out. It was still out when everyone arrived. We stamped by flashlight for a little while. Finally, when it was about to get too dark to stamp, the lights came back on! Definately a new twist to stamping we hadn't prepared for!!

Christmas Tag Door Prize

I made this set of Christmas Gift Tags for my All Occasion Stamp-a-Stack this Friday. This will be the door prize. I used the Christmas Punch Hostess set. Each stamp matches one of our punches. The box was demo'd at the Cincinatti Regional Seminar. It's hard to see in the picture, but there is a clear cover over the box made from a clear window sheet.

Happy Birthday To Me!!

Hi all! Today is my 35th birthday. Does anyone really feel their age? I can remember being in high school and thinking someone in their 30's was OLD!! Don't really feel that way anymore, 50 is starting to look younger and younger. It has been a great day. Lots of phone calls and "Happy Birthday's". My husband brought a Rosattis stuffed pizza home for dinner. They have the best pizza ever!!! Here's a picture of me with my beautiful babies! Not a great picture, but when you have 5 and 2 year olds, it's difficult to get everyone to smile at the same time!

I did get a little time to stamp this afternoon. This card is for two challenges over at Splitcoast. I combined two challenges-Tuesday's Color Challenge and Wednesday's Sketch Challenge. Since I didn't have a lot of time, I combined the two challenges into one.

Back From Regionals!!!!!

Hi Everyone! I made it back from my first ever SU event last night! WOOHOO!!!!! What a great time! I got to meet Shelli. She is SOOOO nice.:

I won a door prize!! I couldn't believe it. I never win and I was in the first group. I won the Wandering Words stamp set from the Holiday Mini. So cute, can't wait to stamp with it:

We did several make n takes. The first pic is of the bitty box and envelope big shot with three note cards inside, an 8 1/2 X 8 1/2 scrapbook page, and a 3X3 notecard. There were three of these that went into a decorated cello bag with a topper. I haven't assembled it yet because I want to show it off at my next few events. The second pic is of two regular cards and a 3 X 3 card. All of the make n takes used the Berry Christmas stamp set in the Holiday Mini. I absolutely love this set!!

I also got a lot of awesome swaps. I'll try to post some of my favorites tomorrow. But for now, this was my absolute FAVORITE!! I had no real desire to get this set until now. This card was made by Tiffany Cline.

There were also a lot of great presenters, super cool demonstrations, and some good business tips. Saturdays event was recorded and is going to available on DVD for demonstrators that couldn't attend. I would recommend getting it.
